Batmans a scientist. So am I.

Ok, the last post should have gone up ages ago but i was stuck on a top 5 list. Anyway

I PASSED MY EXAMS, IM A GOD-DAMN SCIENTIST

Yes, as you can see. I am now done with uni, i graduate with a Bachelor of Computer Science. It took me a year longer than i thought it would, but it feels so good. I have been smiling since i found out.

Ive been wokring all day so i dont have much to report.
Bagels don't really toast, they just kind of boil & burn. Its weird.

Man, Kramer is a jerk.

Anyway, I PASSED.

Difficult takes a day. Impossible takes a week.

Ok, this is the definitive guide to what was one awesome weekend.
Friday:
The weekend starts, after work on friday, even work was good because for the first time ever i got to have a beer with work.
Why? You ask.
Because I had walked there from Gran's. Because Dean, Lisa, Joel & Mitchell had come down, so i had spent most of the day playing with them. After work i went back to play with them, then Alana came over and we had a baked dinner. After the dinner when my cousins had gone to sleep, Lana and I went to see 'Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan'. A really funny movie.
*Side Note: Borat stays at the same hotel that Lana & I did in New York, the fabulous Wellington Hotel. *
Anyway, Lana went home and I went to bed.
Saturday:
Got up at 7, which isn't great, but it was so I could be ready in time for the train to go to the RACES. After some mucking about getting there, which really didn't affect the day at all, we got there at eleven, and the drinking began. At first it was light beer, till 12:30, which sucked but oh well. Anyway, of the 8 races we won on 6 and of those 2 were winners (One picked by Gamblor himself).
At about 5:30, after we backed the second winner and the races were done we tried to figure out a game plan. First was an attempt to get into the Parramatta Rydges, we didn't because we lost interest. SO we went back to the 'fern. Had a few drinks there. Blake blew the roof of with a rendition of 'Without Me' by Eminem. Then we kicked on to the 'Tradies'. Here the night wound down, as we had been drinking for 13 hours. I found my brother and got a lift home.
Sunday:
Work sucks. But after work Lana came over. She bemoaned me stealing her friends. Which i clearly have not. Anyway we hung out for a while then she had to go home. After this Blake asked me to drive him & his GF home, cus he had had a few drinks. I did and we passed a cop car on the way, two minutes later he comes up behind me, pulls me over, tries to threaten me with a fine and breath tests me. To quote Will Smith 'Im a nice guy, why ya'll harassin me for?'.
Thus ends one kick ass weekend. I know it only the start of things to come once i quit my weekend job.

Look, Up in the Sky

Its me, and its been awhile.
No picture of the scar yet, it is really disgusting.

I never thought I'd be so busy with nothing to do. I have finished uni but still seem to be always doing something.
I can't really complain though considering it consists of going to the U2 Vertigo Tour, Alana's Grad Ball & The Ladies Day at the races.
Id just like to sleep in is all I'm saying.

I like the idea of Ragnarok for those of you who don't know what it is, and i admit there is no reason you should. Its from Norse Mythology. It deals with the end of the world, for the gods. It is a battle waged between the gods & monsters, mostly Loki's children.
I like it because of the part the gods play in it. They know, from the moment their born that they will one day perform certain events which will lead to their downfall.
Thor knows that Jörmungandr (A serpant that can encircle the earth) will kill him. Its foretold, it will happen & he knows it. Yet when the time comes Thor picks up his hammer and goes to battle. He knows he will win, but he also knows he will die and I think thats something to be respected.
Doing the right thing, no matter what the cost.

Anyway trying not to sound to preachy. Heres a top 5:
Top 5 Movie Battles (Comic Book Movies) - Contains Spoilers:
1. Wolverine (& Some X Kids) Vs Strykers Troops: Quite simply the best scene in any comic book movie (apart from Superman 2 for personal reasons). Its hinted that Wolverine is a killer in the first movie but you don't really see it until he goes off on the troops who invade the mansion. Also seeing Colossus for the first time in the movies makes it even better.

2. Superman Vs The Three Kryptonians: Ok, so its not exactly sticking to the comic in terms of his powers. Being in several places at once is cool, but unexplainable, as is the wierd shield net thing he throws. But all is forgiven when Superman & Lex 'team' up. The double cross, leading to the hand crushing. This was what made Superman for me.

3. Spiderman Vs Doctor Octopus: The fights between these two were incredible. Spiderman uses everything he has to try & put Ock away. Referencing the first movie and just the speed of the fight make it one to remember.

Ok here is a copy of the trailer for Spiderman 3. If you haven't seen it and liked the first two i strongly suggest grabbing it before Sony pulls it down.

4. The Incredible Hulk Vs Everyone: Ok this isn't from the boring Hulk movie with Eric Bana, its from the Ultimate Avengers animated movie. Hulk first takes out an alien menace then fights with the rest of the Avengers. Not as good as the fight from the comic but still damn cool.

5. Fantastic Four Vs Doctor Doom: Ok, the whole movie leads up to this. It looks like Doom has it won. The Thing is human again, Johnny was being chased by the rocket, Reed is frozen and Sue is being attacked. When Doom looks to have won, the Thing bursts in and he and Doom have a great fight out of the building into the street, where Doom has to deal with all four at once.

Come on! I'm like R. Kelly at recess here!

Anyway
I suppose I should get this out there. I had a melanoma cut off me. It left a big scar and I saw the smoke from me as they lasered me shut. Like I said, anyway I have another scar and six stitches. This is the perfect time to get it too, considering I just started a six week program at the gym & i had plans to go to the driving range on Saturday morning.
I will post a pic of the scar when i take the bandage off. More to freak people out than anything else.

Going to hold off on getting a 360, heard too many stories of the 'three red lights of death'. Ill hold off till they fix it up.

Alana, read 'Pride of Baghdad'.

The republicans lost the senate, Rumsfeld out. Bush is having a bad week, It started off well with the revelation that Iraq was months away from WMD's even if they weren't built & Saddam getting his news. Things can turn around that quickly, remember that.

Its Getting hard out here for a pimp!

Ok, for the first (and hopefully last) time ever my title kinda relates to the post. This story will break the hearts of everyone world wide. I mean if K'Fed & Britney can't make it work how do the rest of you mere mortals stand a chance.

Bush lost control of the House, looks like a change is coming. Will he be forced to withdraw from Irag early?
Should he?
One way or another i think we'll get some answers in the next two years.

For those of you with Office 2007, I just found out that if you rename the .docx files .zip, you can see the XML packages that make each document. Pretty cool. Ill have to exploit this when I start using the .NET 3.0 framework.

I just realised how you can customise google. Damn that web site just keeps getting better.

I know it'll end up costing me damn near a grand but Matty want.

Today I found my friends, their in my head

Just had my second exam. Can someone answer this little question for me:
In an exam where, due to line limits stated on the questions, we can write a maximum of 39 lines (five of these being TRUE or FALSE) do we get three hours and two twelve page books to do it in?

Seems like overkill, but im not complaining. I wish all exams were that easy.
Java tomorrow will be hard, man i hate it when you have no idea how the exam will be structured.

Listening To: David Bowie - Heroes

Oh yeah if you haven't heard, Saddam is going to hang. Can't we find a more painful way to kill the S.O.B?

Anyway, back to study, and line rider etc.

Saturday, November 04, 2006

Its been a long time (long time), we shouldnt have left you..

Ok, sorry its been so entirely sparse with the updates, but here is the weekly big one.
Going to try new things, etc.
Life Update: Well, I have been studying, and doing exams, and...
Yeah had my first exam, it went ok, i guess. The one on tuesday im not looking forward too, but the one tomorrow should be ok. Went to see my sister in a ballet concert last night. She was incredible. The concert, ehh, I'm not a supporter of getting kindy kids dressed up like dancers and having them run around on stage, it just looks unprofessional, and purely to put in to satisfy the over bearing stage mothers.
Meanwhile my sister killed, she played an 'Ugly Sister' (It was Cinderella), and she was great. Her and the other sister got to act as well as dance.
With the video Blogs, yes they are coming, eventually. After the exams i will have more time so ill do them then.
I already have some features planned. This includes: 'Whats on my desk?' & if i can ill get Alana in for an interview.
Anyway, should probably get back to studying.

Wierd Wide Web: Ok, for those of you who dont know Valve is a company that makes the game Half Life. (The first was ok, the second WAY WAY overrated). Anyway, this is what happens , when a kid tries to scam some random he met on the internet. This kid must be such a moron, not only does he fail, but he gets the old switch a roo pulled on him. Its classic.
Also , if you want to surrender your life to a game that is strangely addictive give Line Rider a go. You make some lines and a little guy on a toboggan rides them. Its eating away my study hours.

Quote of the Day: Rochester: Allow me to be frank at the commencement. You will not like me. The gentlemen will be envious and the ladies will be repelled. You will not like me now and you will like me a good deal less as we go on. Ladies, an announcement: I am up for it, all the time. That is not a boast or an opinion, it is bone hard medical fact. I put it round you know. And you will watch me putting it round and sigh for it. Don't. It is a deal of trouble for you and you are better off watching and drawing your conclusions from a distance than you would be if I got my tarse up your petticoats. Gentlemen. Do not despair, I am up for that as well. And the same warning applies. Still your cheesy erections till I have had my say. But later when you shag - and later you will shag, I shall expect it of you and I will know if you have let me down - I wish you to shag with my homuncular image rattling in your gonads. Feel how it was for me, how it is for me and ponder. 'Was that shudder the same shudder he sensed? Did he know something more profound? Or is there some wall of wretchedness that we all batter with our heads at that shining, livelong moment. That is it. That is my prologue, nothing in rhyme, no protestations of modesty, you were not expecting that I hope. I am John Wilmot, Second Earl of Rochester and I do not want you to like me. "

Its Here
The future of fear and loathing online. Never fear this blog will still be updated this will just complement it.

This blog will be overhauled soon. New features added, some features tweaked. I will probably move to more frequent smaller posts with one big post set out like the ones now (but with more). Expect a lot more of everything.

Its Coming

Yes, there is something bug, no HUGE planned for fearandloathingonline. blogspot.com. I wont spoil the surprise just yet, but rest assured, it wont dissapoint.

Life Update: Well, work and study is where its at. I went to the gym, had a session with a personal trainer, it was great. He destroyed me, just one thing after another till i could barely raise an arm.
I went to buy a dvd rack the other day, which i have mentioned. When i bought it, it cost $70, i went up and paid with a $100 (leftover from casino winnings) and got $70 change. At first all i could think was "God i hope i get out of the store before she notices". And i did, but midway up the escalator i realised that going back was the right think to do so i did, and fixed it all up. I feel thats one way to judge a person, if they take responsibility and do the right thing, regardless of how it affects them. Just because its right.

Trawlin the Web: Hmm, not much to report sorry. Wait i just rechecked my blog, and blog related bookmarks, and there is something. Steve Wynn, designed and owns some casinos in Vegas, you know them even if you havent been. The Bellagio, the one Oceans Twelve rob etc. Anyway he was all geared up to sell ONE of his Picassos, damn him for having more then one, and he put his elbow through it. Yep $139 million dollar painting ruined in about three seconds. Now im not the biggest fan of Picasso, BUT i respect his impact on the art world, so i realise how upsetting this is. More then that i love this story becasue it is SUCH A STUPID THING TO DO. I mean really, its just moronic.

Art of the Now (The Persistence of Memory):

The well-known surrealistic piece introduced the image of the soft melting pocket watch.
Dalí began painting to one of his favorite themes, a landscape of the seashore of Catalonia at Cape Creus. He was moved to include the famous melting-clock imagery after a vision he had following a snack of Camembert cheese — the clocks, therefore, have the texture of the soft cheese. The painting shows four soft watches, one of which has a fly showing that time flies and another is being devoured by ants that shows decay. This is widely seen as a commentary that time is less rigid than people usually assume. In the center of the picture, under one of the watches, is a distorted human face in profile. This face, widely understood to be a self-portrait, also appears in Dalí's earlier work The Great Masturbator.

World of MathewCraft

Not much of a pre post rant.
Life Update: I am now a member of a gym. Hopefully this will work for me. If i can get up there twice a week i think i will see serious improvements.
Been studying for the most part the last few days, so very few stories.
Bought a lamp for my desk. I realised i dont know where you go to buy a lamp. I guess i just figured there would be a lamp store. There wasnt.
Bought a DVD rack. Man i have a lot of Xbox, PS2 games.
Playing some more World of Warcraft. Man it sucks you in so simply. Just want to finsih this quest, just want to level up, just want to sell these things, then ill go to bed, at 2:20.

Wierd Wild World:
Ok, when i get my mansion, i am painting a whole wing like this. Its the greatest thing ever.

Art of the Day:
Michelangelo was originally employed to paint the 12 Apostles, but protested for a different scheme, and eventually completed the work with over 300 Biblical figures in a composition which has attracted many different interpretations. His figures showed the creation, the creation of Man, the creation of Woman, Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, the drunkenness of Noah and the Great Flood. Around the windows he painted the ancestors of Christ. On the pendentives supporting the ceiling he alternated seven Prophets of Israel with five sibyls, female prophets of the Classical world, with Jonah over the altar. On the highest section Michelangelo painted nine episodes from the Book of Genesis. (Taken from Wikipedia)

The Rated R Superstar

Wow, it has been a boring couple of days. Thanks in large part to preparing for the tradeshow, the show itself and the fact that i have spent every other hour working.
The tradeshow went well-ish. The lecturers enjoyed what they saw, but i dont think we wowed them enough. I did 70% of the talking, and the rest was done by one other guy. There was one guy in my group who stayed at the stand for about 20 mins all up, in three hours, he sucked.
Havent got a whole lot else to say in the pre post rant so ill get too it.

Life Update: Covered a lot of it already. Got World of Warcraft its pretty good. Still levelling up, it will take a while before i can think about raids and what not, which is what i really want to do. Have been watching a lot of Curb Your Enthusiasm, very funny stuff. I had my own Curb moment today. There were eyedrops for sore eyes, and ones for tired eyes, how do i know which one i need. The symptoms are the same for both.
It feels so good knowing i dont have to get up tomorrow.

Wierd Wild World: Only works if you get it, (www). Not much out there, got a few links for firefox, things like AVZ Calculator, & Text to Image, which is good if you read message boards, it converts text links to picture to thumbnails.
Definately check out this place, if your looking for a costume, of any kind, ;)

The long hard road out of uni.

Tomorrow. Four years worth of studying leads up to tomorrow. My last day of uni classes ever. I can't enjoy this moment like i should because i have a lot of assessments breathing down my neck, all of which are also due tomorrow. It is for this reason i dont have a whole lot to pass on. There may be some random streams of useless in this post. Such as:
In Smallville, whenever Clark goes to visit Lex, Lex is always drinking scotch. Why doesnt he ever offer Clark and, i know he's supposed to be underage, but its not like he has to accept it. Lex is supposed to be his friend, and as i always say, any friend who wont offer you some scotch, is no friend at all.

Life Update: Well as i said, busy, busy, busy with uni. Not so much with work, but its still there. My sister got a job at the only coffee place i regularly go to, so annoying i cant describe. Kinda bored, miss not seeing Lana being able to talk to her about all the little things.
I love my phone, it is so damn good, seriously everyone needs to get one. Everyone go and get one. NOW.
Bought 'Pride of Baghdad' yesterday, i have very high hopes for the book, supposed to be brilliant.

Stories from the 'road': I am stealing this first bit from someone (took me 5 tries to write that word) elses blog but its still cool. Anyway the American retailer Wal-Mart has demanded from music industry to lower the prices of CD's. They want all CD's to be under ten dollars, and heres the kicker, odds are they'll get it because WalMart makes up almost 20% of the music sales in America, yet all those sales account for only 2% of Wal Marts sales, 2. Dont mess with Wal Mart.
Also if you havent been introduced to the world of Chad Vader, Darths younger brother then you must see it now.

We now return to your regularly scheduled blogging

Ok, as much as possible i will try and refrain from any more BUI (Blogging Under the Influence) which is what lead to the last post. That and i wanted to see how hard it would be to do from my phone.
For the record, its easy.

Life Update: It has been a busy couple of days since my last post, so ill catch every one up. Lot of uni work being done / still to do.
BUT
This marks the last week of uni i will ever do. Typing that just now makes me realise how screwed i am and how big a deal this is. Anyway, ill be glad when all the work is done.
Spent Friday night at Alanas house. Again a great night. Spent part of it laying down on the road, talking & listening. Just as good as someones roof.
Work has been frustrating, because i want to quit more and more everyday. Call me arrogant but that place is beneath me, god that place sucks.

Stories from the 'road': Informatio super HIGH WAY, get it. Huh. Funny, no. Honestly i really dont have anything to add this time. I have been too busy for any real recreational browsing.
Follow up to an earlier article ('The amazing web of spiderman') the Esquire sexiest woman in the world was Scarlett Johansson, so i was on the right track, even if i don't 100 agree.

House of Mathew. I think it will catch on.

Coming to you live and direct from the McKinnon Cafeteria, at lunch time, its your next installment of divine words. Don't have much to say to start this one off. Lots of stuff to do, so ill get down to it.

Life Update: As i said, pretty busy with Uni. I have a list of all the things i need to do, and once i cross off everything i am done with uni. That will be a huge feeling of accomplishment. May have to cut work out for next week, at least the web developer job. Too much other stuff to do.
Have to race home today, because after months of me harrasing the people at Telstra, and for that guys im sorry, they have finally release my next mobile. It may not have all the toys other phones have, no 2MP camera for example, but it does have the internet & messenger. Both of which will be so useful.
While writing this i am also, watching videos, typing a user manual, using software for the manual and surfing the net. I need to relax.
Shamrock Vs Ortiz 3 was a bit of a let down, ended much the same way thier second fight did (TKO in the first round). Shame, well doesnt mean i cant still enjoy classic fights from YouTube, or Sherdog.

The Amazing InterWeb: Im still not happy with this title, so ill try something new each time untill i hit upon gold. Speaking of gold. YouTube, everyones favourite viral video site was bought by Google for the price of 1.68 BILLION dollars. I can make websites, i can do this. I need a good idea first.
Nothing else major to report. No especially great videos, at least nothing worth mentioning.

Avengers Assemble

How does one keep a blog interesting. Apart from jotting down any interesting, or less than, events that happen during the day, there is not much to talk about.
So i will try and write each post with a purpose. Nothing heavy, just not rambling streams of my mental collapse (they will be kept to one a fortnight).
As you can tell this is more of a mission statement blog, promising you, my loyal reader, the best damn blog worth reading. I think ill break it into sections, like a magazine.

Life Update: Spent a fair but of time working, at my web design job and at the club, as well as uni work. Finally got Java Path Finder working, but the code i got sent has no errors. Yay. I am 'aquiring' (dont steal TV Show's) Arrested Development Season 1 for ipod, as well as the pilot for 'Heroes', it looks interesting. Alana is away which sucks. I realise just how much i miss her when i have some stupid comment i want to tell, or sms her and can't. Its annoying, and not something i want to get used to.

The Amazing Web of Spiderman: Great video at this link of Biff from 'Back to the Future' singing about his life. Really funny stuff.
Also if you want to have a guess at this its esquire sexiest woman in the world 06. Right now my money is on Scarlett Johansson or Charlize Theron.

Will Smith still kicks ass

Spent a lot of time catching up with some old dvds lately. If you havent seen Deadwood or Arrested Development you should go and get them now, Ill wait.
Seriously, its 11:20 at night i have nothing else to do.
...
Got them? Good.
They are the pinnacle of scripted drama and sitcom. Too many quotable lines to list here.

Uni is going well, except for the extension given the day the assignment is due that everyone BUT us knew about.
Two weeks to go. Its to good to be true.

Money, Money, Money. I wish you could buy free time. $100 dollars buys you 2 hours where you have nothing to do but relax and do anything. No worrying about assignment, no work. Nothing.
I do get some free time, watching dvds, but even then im doing something else, during Arrested i was cooking, and i did a little uni work during Deadwood.

My drawing is showing signs of improvement. Practise is definately the key.

Wish i had angel wings.
Think ill go buy something off eBay, havent decided what just yet, something cool though.

Go and check out this trailer 300 Trailer. It will knock you out and destroy your thousand nation army.

Ok, This Bacons Done.

Got that from the Simpsons, still funny.

Seriously want to play the new Superman game. Need a 360 for it though. Wont get myself one of those till i graduate. I suppose the wait is good.
I was thinking about that earlier, the on demand way I, and i suppose many live their life. I feel that although i have patience i have no need for it, if i want to watch something i put the DVD in, if i want to hear a song, i download it. Is this a better thing? Im going to say....yes. Getting most things on demand makes you appreciate things you have to wait for even more.

Today had its highs and middles. Didnt do a whole lot, i mean some assignments but still, a feeling of a day wasted. But I did see Alana, and that makes everyday that much better, hell it makes even a bland day like today seem worthwhile.
My group is so not going to have anything to hand in tomorrow, its all on me, and I am the man.

it seems like a tradgedy something i love to do, drawing, ill always suck at. Such a shame, but i will keep trying though, i am slowly getting better, and i suppose i compare myself against some pretty good artisits, such as:
I suppose, this being divine words i should impart some wisdom.
Never, ever give up. Never even think about giving up. This is what stops so many people. It comes down to a matter of perspective. Rather than thinking, "I could never do this", think "How can i do this, what will it take etc"
Thats all you get for now.

An interesting weekend.

Any weekend where at one point your sitting on some random persons roof with a friend drinking is probably heading towards being a good weekend. But i have a skewed sense of what fun is.
The topic of TV came up. How in the last few years reality has been, watered down to a select few shows that have proven themselves (idol, dancing um i dont know but assume there are more), and in direct contrast to this a number of scripted shows are burning up the charts (Prison Break, Lost, Desperate etc). I realise this has been going on for a while....
MY POINT IS:
my favoutire TV shows are - Simpsons, Arrested Development, Sopranos, Curb / Sienfeld, Deadwood, Entourage, Scurbs & Boston Legal.

Bought my very first thing from iTunes today. I feel like now im part of the party, the keep it legal party. Dont steal music.
As im writing this i find out that i cant move the stuff on unless i update my ipod, not a big deal, just annoying. Speaking of annoying why cant i buy things from the american iTunes store.
The thing i bought from iTunes, Pixars - "Boundin". The four minute movie from the start of "The Incredibles".
I also just bought the second season of "The Ricky Gervais Show".

Quote of the day:
"Well, then, business will have to suffer, alright? And listen -- do me a favor, Tom -- No more advice on how to patch things up. Just help me win, please, alright?"
