So hot my sweat is sweating.

Wow, Its hot. That sucks, becuase, well to be honest I spent today doing what i wanted, nothing.
Yesterday though, i did it all, went to the driving range with Lana, shopping with Lana, beach with Lana then came home and watched a movie, with Lana.

The jobs are still going, moving on to a new project on monday, hopefully. Also my other one is still in the works.

Its too hot to concentrate, more later.

You Know my Name

According to blogger this is the first post all year. Thats pretty poor of me. I havent been that busy. I just get lazy after work. I come home and zone out watching dvds or playing games.
Anyway, i will be including a lot more in the coming weeks etc. Im going to start reviewing some things books, dvds, comics, movies, etc.
I will also have my huge weekly updates of everything.

Life Update: Well, work is still alright, although i had to stay back today, which sucked beyond sucked. Im going to the gym more, which i like, i can tell its working, if nothing else i feel better, stronger. Still no word back on the other job i applied for but im sure ill hear from them soon.

Review:
A Series of Unfortunate Events: Book the Eighth: The Hostile Hospital.
Its hard to review this book without giving away too much of the plot. If you have heard of these books but never read them, you might think that giving away the plot of a childrens book seems trivial. You are wrong. Although the books might be basic, the plot leaves you wanting to jump from book to book, as questions are answered and new ones are asked.
This book is different in that the children are not with at a foster home of any sort for the first time in the series. Also the narrator and author makes his first 'appearance' in the book. This is also unique in that Count Olaf has his entire entourage together trying to capture the Baudelaire's, which hasnt happened since the very first book.
I think this book holds up quite strongly, possibly being in the top three of the series, partly because it moves away from the trusted formula in some areas, and in those that it sticks too it does it so well.
Mathews Commandment: Read It, if you've read the others.

Songs I'm Listening to:
  • "You know my name" - Chris Cornell
  • "The Ballad of John & Yoko" - The Beatles
  • "Ruby Soho" - Rancid
  • "Smile" - Lilly Allen

Well thats all from me tonight, got to get up early to hit the gym tomorrow.

007

Well, Well, Well. A new year is here. I have to say i was sorry to see double oh six leave us because it was a really good year.
However no one moves forward by dwelling on the past. 007 right now is full of promise, I only hope that I can make it more successful than last year. To that end I will list my new years resolutions, becuase if they are down on 'paper' than I will be reminded of them each day.

  • Learn to play guitar.
  • Diversify my investment portfolio to include shares.
    • This includes researching, and buying shares.
  • Double my savings, this may be difficult, I am not counting every cent i have, I have just set an average figure and hope to double it.
  • Move out. Either for the job Im applying for, or one overseas. This is the year I really start MY life, outside of family expectations.
  • Run the Sutherland to Surf.
Anyway, this is the list im working on now. I will keep it updated as i go on.

My new years eve was great, went to a small party and had a really good time, although I did drink too much. Which annoyed me because I really don't like getting that drunk.

A little close to the boob don't ya think

Hello all.
Life Update: Work goes well, having basically finished my website, its now in its testing phase so theres nothing for me to do for a while.
Got some bad news this week, really bad news. But honestly i think it picked the wrong person. If there is anyone on the planet who can get through this he will. Stronger than Superman doesn't come close.
I have a whole Christmas cake to eat. Mmmmm.

I have a super power. Its not especially cool, like flying, or useful like X Ray vision, but its better than nothing. M y power is the ability to 'call' baked goods to me. If I feel like, say a cookie, within the next hour or two one will cross my path. I wont go looking for one, it will just show up.
Hey, at least I have A super power.

If your like me and have a whole bunch of photos on your computer that were taken by a digital camera, had their file name created automatically and now mean nothing, get Picasa. I had neglected my photos for ages, and now I have them named, time stamped and organised. Honestly, Its a great program, Its free and its google. How can you go wrong.

Weird Wide World:

Ok, this article, should help clarify what I mean when I say I'm a programmer. It shows just how absurd of an idea is portrayed.
Also this is a funny read. Now i know my sister had one of these toys, how many did you have?

Anyway, I have to go to sleep if I want to get up at 6:00 to go to the gym.

Never Let Them See You Bleed

I CANT BELIEVE I LEFT OUT LANA's GRADUATION. It was her second one, because she's too smart to graduate once. Anyway what that means is that she is now officially the most technically educated person i know. She can also teach. Which is what she wanted so its good. The ceremony was excellent, I was so proud because I know she was unsure of things, and had problems with some parts (& people) in her course, but she did it, with style. Sorry.

Life Update
: Ok so since my last post I have:
  • Won a poker tournament. 100 players and I was the best. Damn i rock at that game, and im starting to read people, or at least really try.
  • Spent 13 hours drinking. Thats how you have a farewell party. Nothing says goodbye like watching the sun come up and people go to work from the inside of a pub.
  • Graduated. I am now officially a Computer Scientist. It was such a great day. I didnt think it would mean that much. I thought that getting there was the best part, but the ceremony kicked ass.
  • Passed an aptitude test for my job. Now i move on to the next phase fingers crossed.
  • Quit from the Club. I worked my last shift ever. Woo Hoo.
  • Won a poker night. Only 10-13 people or so but i still got $55 out of it.
  • Hung out heaps with Lana.
  • Saw the latest Bond movie. A must see, it kicks so much ass.
Yeah, its been a busy couple of days / weeks hence the lack of blogging. As it is, this is all I am going to write right now, as i have to drive my parents around. Not exactly how i wanted to spend my first weekend off but whatever.

Man of Steel.

Ok, first things first LANA WOUNDED MY CAR. She didnt quite kill it, and i dont really care, but still. Its fun annoying her.

Life Update: Work is coming along nicely, god willing the site will be up and running on friday, so i can show what it looks like. Went for some testing today for a job, tough stuff but i got to wear my suit. Heading up to a big weekend. Work party on friday night, work saturday & sunday, work party sunday night. work on monday will not be my best effort.

News from across the world: Preacher, a really excellent comic series is going to be produced by HBO. My prediction is, if faithful enough to the comic, this will be the greatest action / drama series ever better than 24, The Shield, Angel, Alias or even Deadwood & The Sopranos. But it will be controversial.
If anyone caught the Daily Show the other day it had a great bit about Kramer and his rant.
"My people have endured a lot, but I've never heard of the upside down anal forking, is he offending a brother or a turkey?"

Hmm, ranting
Ok, this guy is awesome.

But no one, on earth (I exist outside of this earthly dimension, I just choose to walk it) is cooler than my man here:

Ok so this guy is actually committing a crime against humanity, but still. Nope i got nothing he sucks and its literally painful to listen to. Im sorry for unleasing it on everyone.

Quote of the day: "Hope is an aspiration, a beacon that shines...lighting the way for all mankind. Hope is the refusal of the inevitable. Born to greatness is a lie and fate was invented by cowards, but destiny is something we hold in our hands. I am a man. I hope." Lex Luthor

You Shouldnt Wound What You Cant Kill

ok, moving back to a more traditional post today, as i figure posting something is better than nothing.
This blog is officialy Google'd. If you search for Divine Words, i come up on about the third page.
I am still writing the 'script' for the video blog so i wont have that up for a while.

Life Update: Hmm, this week I have...
Been offered a job at the place i work at locally. It looks like a good job, with average salary, I havent accepted yet because,
I have moved on to the next round in the hiring process for another job. This is the job I would prefer, so I am going to see how it goes before accepting the first offer.
Quit my bar job. This is pretty cool. It also makes me a man of my word, I said I would never be in the staff profile of the newsletter, nor would I serve them once I am a scientist. Both of which are true.
Played some poker. In preparation for Casino Royale coming out next week I got in a game at the local RSL with Chen, Nick & Lana. I had the chip lead for the whole tournament at one stage but ended up coming 15th. Better luck next week i hope.
Goit involved in some road rage. On the way to work on Saturday some guy cut me off, coming up the lefthand lane. He waved back at me, so I gave him the finger. He kept gesturing at me, so I responded in kind. After a while I pulled in front of him. Here he starts giving me some hand signs, 'speed up' etc. Eventually were side by side and he's leaning over his SO and has wound down his window to give me an earful and some more gestures, because my window doesnt go down, i miss, what was surely a brilliant tirade, and respond, once again with the finger. Such an idiot.

If i could, Id have the James Bond theme play whenever I enter a room, not the start but the cymbal crash, the real meat of the theme.
Anyway im off to dinner.

Scotch, Scotch, Scotch I love Scotch.

Take a guess what I'm drinking right this very second.
Johnny Walker Green Label.

Life Update: Yeah. Another great weekend, thats two in a row.
This one consisted of hanging out at lana's on friday night, drinking, candy, coke and x-box.
This lead in to a saturday which consisted of me bailing out on work to go ice skating. This was only the second time i had done it, and it was great. The only drawback was that my skates didnt fit and i was wearing shorts. Next time however, things will be different. Yeah I had to work today, but damn was it quiet. Now im chilling watching YouTube and having a quiet scotch. Life is good.

Wierd Wide Web: I was reading TIME, the inventions of the year article. Number 1 was YouTube. I am starting to realise why. Its more than just a site for, "look at this isnt it funny videos". Its starting to take the reigns when it comes to new media. A perfect example is my latest addiction, lonelygirl15, (which is in no way related to anything sexual before you get ideas). This is a video blog that was presented as genuine for a long time, before being revealed as elaborately constructed. It is intriguing viewing, and tells a story.\

Anyway, im still working on a top 5 list, and the video blog, i may throw one up this week, just so ive got it up there. It will develop as time goes on though.
This scotch is excellent by the by.

Batmans a scientist. So am I.

Ok, the last post should have gone up ages ago but i was stuck on a top 5 list. Anyway

I PASSED MY EXAMS, IM A GOD-DAMN SCIENTIST

Yes, as you can see. I am now done with uni, i graduate with a Bachelor of Computer Science. It took me a year longer than i thought it would, but it feels so good. I have been smiling since i found out.

Ive been wokring all day so i dont have much to report.
Bagels don't really toast, they just kind of boil & burn. Its weird.

Man, Kramer is a jerk.

Anyway, I PASSED.

Difficult takes a day. Impossible takes a week.

Ok, this is the definitive guide to what was one awesome weekend.
Friday:
The weekend starts, after work on friday, even work was good because for the first time ever i got to have a beer with work.
Why? You ask.
Because I had walked there from Gran's. Because Dean, Lisa, Joel & Mitchell had come down, so i had spent most of the day playing with them. After work i went back to play with them, then Alana came over and we had a baked dinner. After the dinner when my cousins had gone to sleep, Lana and I went to see 'Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan'. A really funny movie.
*Side Note: Borat stays at the same hotel that Lana & I did in New York, the fabulous Wellington Hotel. *
Anyway, Lana went home and I went to bed.
Saturday:
Got up at 7, which isn't great, but it was so I could be ready in time for the train to go to the RACES. After some mucking about getting there, which really didn't affect the day at all, we got there at eleven, and the drinking began. At first it was light beer, till 12:30, which sucked but oh well. Anyway, of the 8 races we won on 6 and of those 2 were winners (One picked by Gamblor himself).
At about 5:30, after we backed the second winner and the races were done we tried to figure out a game plan. First was an attempt to get into the Parramatta Rydges, we didn't because we lost interest. SO we went back to the 'fern. Had a few drinks there. Blake blew the roof of with a rendition of 'Without Me' by Eminem. Then we kicked on to the 'Tradies'. Here the night wound down, as we had been drinking for 13 hours. I found my brother and got a lift home.
Sunday:
Work sucks. But after work Lana came over. She bemoaned me stealing her friends. Which i clearly have not. Anyway we hung out for a while then she had to go home. After this Blake asked me to drive him & his GF home, cus he had had a few drinks. I did and we passed a cop car on the way, two minutes later he comes up behind me, pulls me over, tries to threaten me with a fine and breath tests me. To quote Will Smith 'Im a nice guy, why ya'll harassin me for?'.
Thus ends one kick ass weekend. I know it only the start of things to come once i quit my weekend job.

Look, Up in the Sky

Its me, and its been awhile.
No picture of the scar yet, it is really disgusting.

I never thought I'd be so busy with nothing to do. I have finished uni but still seem to be always doing something.
I can't really complain though considering it consists of going to the U2 Vertigo Tour, Alana's Grad Ball & The Ladies Day at the races.
Id just like to sleep in is all I'm saying.

I like the idea of Ragnarok for those of you who don't know what it is, and i admit there is no reason you should. Its from Norse Mythology. It deals with the end of the world, for the gods. It is a battle waged between the gods & monsters, mostly Loki's children.
I like it because of the part the gods play in it. They know, from the moment their born that they will one day perform certain events which will lead to their downfall.
Thor knows that Jörmungandr (A serpant that can encircle the earth) will kill him. Its foretold, it will happen & he knows it. Yet when the time comes Thor picks up his hammer and goes to battle. He knows he will win, but he also knows he will die and I think thats something to be respected.
Doing the right thing, no matter what the cost.

Anyway trying not to sound to preachy. Heres a top 5:
Top 5 Movie Battles (Comic Book Movies) - Contains Spoilers:
1. Wolverine (& Some X Kids) Vs Strykers Troops: Quite simply the best scene in any comic book movie (apart from Superman 2 for personal reasons). Its hinted that Wolverine is a killer in the first movie but you don't really see it until he goes off on the troops who invade the mansion. Also seeing Colossus for the first time in the movies makes it even better.

2. Superman Vs The Three Kryptonians: Ok, so its not exactly sticking to the comic in terms of his powers. Being in several places at once is cool, but unexplainable, as is the wierd shield net thing he throws. But all is forgiven when Superman & Lex 'team' up. The double cross, leading to the hand crushing. This was what made Superman for me.

3. Spiderman Vs Doctor Octopus: The fights between these two were incredible. Spiderman uses everything he has to try & put Ock away. Referencing the first movie and just the speed of the fight make it one to remember.

Ok here is a copy of the trailer for Spiderman 3. If you haven't seen it and liked the first two i strongly suggest grabbing it before Sony pulls it down.

4. The Incredible Hulk Vs Everyone: Ok this isn't from the boring Hulk movie with Eric Bana, its from the Ultimate Avengers animated movie. Hulk first takes out an alien menace then fights with the rest of the Avengers. Not as good as the fight from the comic but still damn cool.

5. Fantastic Four Vs Doctor Doom: Ok, the whole movie leads up to this. It looks like Doom has it won. The Thing is human again, Johnny was being chased by the rocket, Reed is frozen and Sue is being attacked. When Doom looks to have won, the Thing bursts in and he and Doom have a great fight out of the building into the street, where Doom has to deal with all four at once.

Come on! I'm like R. Kelly at recess here!

Anyway
I suppose I should get this out there. I had a melanoma cut off me. It left a big scar and I saw the smoke from me as they lasered me shut. Like I said, anyway I have another scar and six stitches. This is the perfect time to get it too, considering I just started a six week program at the gym & i had plans to go to the driving range on Saturday morning.
I will post a pic of the scar when i take the bandage off. More to freak people out than anything else.

Going to hold off on getting a 360, heard too many stories of the 'three red lights of death'. Ill hold off till they fix it up.

Alana, read 'Pride of Baghdad'.

The republicans lost the senate, Rumsfeld out. Bush is having a bad week, It started off well with the revelation that Iraq was months away from WMD's even if they weren't built & Saddam getting his news. Things can turn around that quickly, remember that.

Its Getting hard out here for a pimp!

Ok, for the first (and hopefully last) time ever my title kinda relates to the post. This story will break the hearts of everyone world wide. I mean if K'Fed & Britney can't make it work how do the rest of you mere mortals stand a chance.

Bush lost control of the House, looks like a change is coming. Will he be forced to withdraw from Irag early?
Should he?
One way or another i think we'll get some answers in the next two years.

For those of you with Office 2007, I just found out that if you rename the .docx files .zip, you can see the XML packages that make each document. Pretty cool. Ill have to exploit this when I start using the .NET 3.0 framework.

I just realised how you can customise google. Damn that web site just keeps getting better.

I know it'll end up costing me damn near a grand but Matty want.

Today I found my friends, their in my head

Just had my second exam. Can someone answer this little question for me:
In an exam where, due to line limits stated on the questions, we can write a maximum of 39 lines (five of these being TRUE or FALSE) do we get three hours and two twelve page books to do it in?

Seems like overkill, but im not complaining. I wish all exams were that easy.
Java tomorrow will be hard, man i hate it when you have no idea how the exam will be structured.

Listening To: David Bowie - Heroes

Oh yeah if you haven't heard, Saddam is going to hang. Can't we find a more painful way to kill the S.O.B?

Anyway, back to study, and line rider etc.

Saturday, November 04, 2006

Its been a long time (long time), we shouldnt have left you..

Ok, sorry its been so entirely sparse with the updates, but here is the weekly big one.
Going to try new things, etc.
Life Update: Well, I have been studying, and doing exams, and...
Yeah had my first exam, it went ok, i guess. The one on tuesday im not looking forward too, but the one tomorrow should be ok. Went to see my sister in a ballet concert last night. She was incredible. The concert, ehh, I'm not a supporter of getting kindy kids dressed up like dancers and having them run around on stage, it just looks unprofessional, and purely to put in to satisfy the over bearing stage mothers.
Meanwhile my sister killed, she played an 'Ugly Sister' (It was Cinderella), and she was great. Her and the other sister got to act as well as dance.
With the video Blogs, yes they are coming, eventually. After the exams i will have more time so ill do them then.
I already have some features planned. This includes: 'Whats on my desk?' & if i can ill get Alana in for an interview.
Anyway, should probably get back to studying.

Wierd Wide Web: Ok, for those of you who dont know Valve is a company that makes the game Half Life. (The first was ok, the second WAY WAY overrated). Anyway, this is what happens , when a kid tries to scam some random he met on the internet. This kid must be such a moron, not only does he fail, but he gets the old switch a roo pulled on him. Its classic.
Also , if you want to surrender your life to a game that is strangely addictive give Line Rider a go. You make some lines and a little guy on a toboggan rides them. Its eating away my study hours.

Daily Top 5 (Top 5 Babes) :
Alana
Brooke Burke
Adriana Lima
Jessica Alba
Elisha Cuthbert

Quote of the Day: Rochester: Allow me to be frank at the commencement. You will not like me. The gentlemen will be envious and the ladies will be repelled. You will not like me now and you will like me a good deal less as we go on. Ladies, an announcement: I am up for it, all the time. That is not a boast or an opinion, it is bone hard medical fact. I put it round you know. And you will watch me putting it round and sigh for it. Don't. It is a deal of trouble for you and you are better off watching and drawing your conclusions from a distance than you would be if I got my tarse up your petticoats. Gentlemen. Do not despair, I am up for that as well. And the same warning applies. Still your cheesy erections till I have had my say. But later when you shag - and later you will shag, I shall expect it of you and I will know if you have let me down - I wish you to shag with my homuncular image rattling in your gonads. Feel how it was for me, how it is for me and ponder. 'Was that shudder the same shudder he sensed? Did he know something more profound? Or is there some wall of wretchedness that we all batter with our heads at that shining, livelong moment. That is it. That is my prologue, nothing in rhyme, no protestations of modesty, you were not expecting that I hope. I am John Wilmot, Second Earl of Rochester and I do not want you to like me. "

Its Here
The future of fear and loathing online. Never fear this blog will still be updated this will just complement it.

This blog will be overhauled soon. New features added, some features tweaked. I will probably move to more frequent smaller posts with one big post set out like the ones now (but with more). Expect a lot more of everything.

Its Coming

Yes, there is something bug, no HUGE planned for fearandloathingonline. blogspot.com. I wont spoil the surprise just yet, but rest assured, it wont dissapoint.

Life Update: Well, work and study is where its at. I went to the gym, had a session with a personal trainer, it was great. He destroyed me, just one thing after another till i could barely raise an arm.
I went to buy a dvd rack the other day, which i have mentioned. When i bought it, it cost $70, i went up and paid with a $100 (leftover from casino winnings) and got $70 change. At first all i could think was "God i hope i get out of the store before she notices". And i did, but midway up the escalator i realised that going back was the right think to do so i did, and fixed it all up. I feel thats one way to judge a person, if they take responsibility and do the right thing, regardless of how it affects them. Just because its right.

Trawlin the Web: Hmm, not much to report sorry. Wait i just rechecked my blog, and blog related bookmarks, and there is something. Steve Wynn, designed and owns some casinos in Vegas, you know them even if you havent been. The Bellagio, the one Oceans Twelve rob etc. Anyway he was all geared up to sell ONE of his Picassos, damn him for having more then one, and he put his elbow through it. Yep $139 million dollar painting ruined in about three seconds. Now im not the biggest fan of Picasso, BUT i respect his impact on the art world, so i realise how upsetting this is. More then that i love this story becasue it is SUCH A STUPID THING TO DO. I mean really, its just moronic.

Art of the Now (The Persistence of Memory):

The well-known surrealistic piece introduced the image of the soft melting pocket watch.
Dalí began painting to one of his favorite themes, a landscape of the seashore of Catalonia at Cape Creus. He was moved to include the famous melting-clock imagery after a vision he had following a snack of Camembert cheese — the clocks, therefore, have the texture of the soft cheese. The painting shows four soft watches, one of which has a fly showing that time flies and another is being devoured by ants that shows decay. This is widely seen as a commentary that time is less rigid than people usually assume. In the center of the picture, under one of the watches, is a distorted human face in profile. This face, widely understood to be a self-portrait, also appears in Dalí's earlier work The Great Masturbator.

World of MathewCraft

Not much of a pre post rant.
Life Update: I am now a member of a gym. Hopefully this will work for me. If i can get up there twice a week i think i will see serious improvements.
Been studying for the most part the last few days, so very few stories.
Bought a lamp for my desk. I realised i dont know where you go to buy a lamp. I guess i just figured there would be a lamp store. There wasnt.
Bought a DVD rack. Man i have a lot of Xbox, PS2 games.
Playing some more World of Warcraft. Man it sucks you in so simply. Just want to finsih this quest, just want to level up, just want to sell these things, then ill go to bed, at 2:20.

Wierd Wild World:
Ok, when i get my mansion, i am painting a whole wing like this. Its the greatest thing ever.

Art of the Day:
Michelangelo was originally employed to paint the 12 Apostles, but protested for a different scheme, and eventually completed the work with over 300 Biblical figures in a composition which has attracted many different interpretations. His figures showed the creation, the creation of Man, the creation of Woman, Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, the drunkenness of Noah and the Great Flood. Around the windows he painted the ancestors of Christ. On the pendentives supporting the ceiling he alternated seven Prophets of Israel with five sibyls, female prophets of the Classical world, with Jonah over the altar. On the highest section Michelangelo painted nine episodes from the Book of Genesis. (Taken from Wikipedia)

"You know another class I took at Harvard? Business Ethics. I don't steal other people's mother fucking clients, but in your case I'm going to make an exception. I'm going to take everyone; your B-level sitcom stars, your reality-TV writers, when I'm done with you, you're gonna be repping sideshow freaks. You need Jo-Jo the Dog-Face-Bitch-Boy? Call Josh Weinfuck, the lightweight pen-stealing fuckface." - Ari Gold (Entourage)

The Rated R Superstar

Wow, it has been a boring couple of days. Thanks in large part to preparing for the tradeshow, the show itself and the fact that i have spent every other hour working.
The tradeshow went well-ish. The lecturers enjoyed what they saw, but i dont think we wowed them enough. I did 70% of the talking, and the rest was done by one other guy. There was one guy in my group who stayed at the stand for about 20 mins all up, in three hours, he sucked.
Havent got a whole lot else to say in the pre post rant so ill get too it.

Life Update: Covered a lot of it already. Got World of Warcraft its pretty good. Still levelling up, it will take a while before i can think about raids and what not, which is what i really want to do. Have been watching a lot of Curb Your Enthusiasm, very funny stuff. I had my own Curb moment today. There were eyedrops for sore eyes, and ones for tired eyes, how do i know which one i need. The symptoms are the same for both.
It feels so good knowing i dont have to get up tomorrow.

Wierd Wild World: Only works if you get it, (www). Not much out there, got a few links for firefox, things like AVZ Calculator, & Text to Image, which is good if you read message boards, it converts text links to picture to thumbnails.
Definately check out this place, if your looking for a costume, of any kind, ;)
